New Product: Aran White Granite

February 11, 2008 on 8:46 pm | In Colors, Design, News | No Comments

Aran White Close Up1.jpg January 14 marks the arrival of our much-awaited Aran White granite. For months, we have been seeking to expand our inventory of white colors, which primarily consisted of Kashmir White and Millennium Cream. For starters, we have 25.5″x110″ countertops, 36″x100″ islands/peninsulas, 42″x100″ islands/peninsulas, and backsplashes (4″-7″ high and full) available to be purchased and installed. Only the bullnose edge is available in our current inventory.

Name:
Aran White
Country of Origin: Brazil
Colors: White/Gray
Price: $65 per square foot installed with the Bullnose edge
Other Names: Diamond White and Juparana Perla from both Brazil and Italy
Granite Group: Pegmatite, consisting of quartz, feldspar, orthoclase, and mica
Aran White’s color is often compared to Azul Aran from Cataluna, Spain and Bianco Romano from Espirito Santo, Brazil. The most striking feature of this natural stone is the crystal size – often seen in pegmatite granites. The world’s largest crystal was found in a pegmatite, and can extend up to several meters in length! Many important minerals, such as boron, beryllium and lithium, and precious gemstones, such as topaz and aquamarine, are found in pegmatites.

Cabinetry
White stone is venturing out of its signature bathroom locale into bold statement-making kitchen countertops. Because of the presence of crystals in Aran White, it is ideal to keep the cabinetry and decor minimal. The stone will and should be the spotlight of the room; therefore minimalist cabinets – like white and light-stained oak and maple will work great. For those who lean towards a more edgy and modern design, black cabinets will bring out the darker crystals in the stone and create a more dramatic look.

Backsplash
For the backsplash, opting for full granite backsplash will transform your walls into “crystal art.” While beautiful, full backsplash may not be for everyone. In this case, you can go with a lower backsplash – a 7″ backsplash is high enough to make cleaning easy but not too short to be unable to see the stone movements. 4″ backsplash is also a great option – a strong candidate in bathroom remodels.

Another option is tile backsplash. Glass mosaic tiles is the new trend these days. Opt for a single, complimentary color – such as Egyptian Glass in Sand, that draws from the colors of the granite stone.

For a simpler look, go with ceramic and porcelain tiles to make cleaning and maintenance a breeze.

While you should definitely consider Aran White for your kitchen remodel, the versatility of the stone lend itself to being a great choice for your shower and vanity remodels as well.
